Holding On By A Thread

A Ceremony by The Art of Ceremony™
Featuring: A Simple Thread • Somatic Breath-work • Compassion
Emotional Overwhelm • Tenderness • Inner Holding
Affirmation:
“Even this is enough. Even now, I am held.”

🌸 Welcome
This is a ceremony for the moments when everything feels like too much.
When you're holding it together, but barely.
When you need softness—not strength.

This ritual was born in that kind of moment.
It offers no solutions. Only presence, permission, and breath.

Let the thread become your symbol.
Thin but unbroken.
Soft, but strong.

You are not alone in this.

🌬️ Ceremony Flow

1. Prepare Your Space
Choose a quiet space. Sit comfortably.
Bring a small candle and a piece of string, thread, or ribbon.
Light the candle. Hold the thread gently in both hands.
Let the light say: I am still here.

2. Begin With Breath
Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly.
Breathe slowly and softly.

Whisper:
“I am hanging by a thread.”
Let that truth be heard.
You don’t need to hide it here.

3. Guided Audio Meditation
🎧 Press play below to begin your guided audio ceremony.
Let the voice, the breath, and the silence hold you gently.
Let this moment become a thread of reconnection—anchoring you in compassion, presence, and care.

4. Speak Your Truth
Say aloud or silently:
“I am not too much.”
“My softness is not a flaw.”
“Even when I unravel, I am still whole.”

Add your own truth if it rises.
Let it be known. Let it be real.

5. Complete the Ritual
Tie the thread gently:

  • Around your wrist, as a promise

  • Around the candle, as a symbol

  • Or tuck it in a journal, as a memory

Whisper one final time:
“Even this is enough. Even now, I am held.”

🌙 Closing
Blow out your candle slowly, when you feel complete.
Or let it burn until the moment softens.

Know this:
You are still here.
Still breathing.
Still becoming.

And I am proud of you.

✨ The Story Behind Hanging On By a Thread

Where This Ceremony Was Born

I created this ceremony in a moment when everything felt like too much.

I had nothing left to give, no clarity, no sense of what came next. I wasn't looking for advice or answers — I just needed to feel held.

So I lit a candle and sat down, and without thinking, I picked up a simple piece of thread from the table. I wrapped it around my wrist, and something inside me softened. I wasn’t sure why it helped — it just did.

Later, I discovered the ancient belief in the Red Thread of Fate — a story told in Chinese and Japanese mythology. It says that we are all connected by an invisible red thread, tied to the ones we’re meant to meet, the moments we’re meant to live. The thread may tangle, stretch, or fray — but it never breaks.

Even though mine wasn’t red, the meaning still found me.

That thread became a tether — not just to others, but to myself. To breath. To spirit. To the idea that maybe I wasn’t lost, just in-between.

This ceremony was born from that thread — and my hope is that, in your moment of unraveling, it can remind you:
You are still connected.
You are still here.
And you are still held — even now.
